How Texas will handle Citrus Bowl coaching duties
AUSTIN, Texas — With three coaching changes for the No. 13 Texas Longhorns between the end of the regular season and the Citrus Bowl matchup against the No. 18 Michigan Wolverines later this month in Orlando, things don’t quite like the same around the Moncrief-Neuhaus Athletic Complex as they did a few weeks ago.
Texas has undergone some coaching changes as well, on the opposite side of the ball, recently firing defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski and hiring Will Muschamp in his stead.

Texas has a new defensive coordinator ahead of its Dec. 31 Citrus Bowl matchup against Michigan. Head coach Steve Sarkisian announced Thursday that the Longhorns have fired defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski and defensive pass game coordinator Duane Akina while hiring veteran Will Muschamp as defensive coordinator.
With Guilbeau opting out, the Texas secondary is now down two players who started for most of the regular season. All-American safety Michael Taaffe also will skip the Citrus Bowl in order to prepare for the draft.

The line for No. 18 Michigan’s date with No. 14 Texas in the Citrus Bowl on New Year’s Eve has moved 2.5 points toward the Longhorns since Wolverines head coach Sherrone Moore was fired on Wednesday for an “inappropriate relationship with a staff member.”
